Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh and greetings all

Alhamdulillah, it is with great pleasure and pride, that I, Hjh Nurun Nadhrah binti Hj Nawawi, Chairperson of this year’s BEG Committee, introduce to you the 9^th BruNotts Easter Games 2012. This year the event will take place on 31^st March 2012 at The University of Nottingham, Sports Centre.

BruNotts has played host to this annually anticipated sports event for Bruneian students for 9 years. It has been a privilege for us to host this tradition for so long – and we are grateful for the endless support we’ve received over the years.

The purpose of BEG is to gather Bruneian students all over United Kingdom for this special day to enjoy a healthy competition among themselves as well as creating a strong bond between the societies and students. BEG can be the platform for raise the status of those students who not only excel in studies, but also in sports, by awarding them trophies and prizes for their hard work. We open participation in sports such as Netball, Football 5-a-side, Badminton, Squash and Table tennis.

Since BEG takes place all in one day, we try our best to fit in all in sports but due to time constraint and venue – players can only participate in one sport and are the number of teams and players are limited. Although there is an option for Squash and Table Tennis players; they can also choose to participate in Badminton, as the tournament times do not clash.

As a reminder, the BEG committee encourages the players to follow the rules and safety measures to ensure that the games will be safe for both players and supporters. Players should read the Info packs as it contains vital information regarding the games itself and it will also avoid any future confusion.

Furthermore, both players and supporters should conduct themselves in an ethical manner throughout the day during and out of games. Any misconduct will not be tolerated and there will be consequences. This is to ensure that the day will run smoothly and will be enjoyable to both supporters and players.

Every year, a team of committed and hard working committee members do our very best to make sure BEG runs smoothly so that your experience here in worth it. Months’ worth of preparation and planning goes on behind the scenes. We aim to bring a better and improved BEG for all players, societies and supporters. Although the task is not easy, we hope that everyone will support us and make BEG continue to flourish in the years to come, Insya Allah.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate all the committee members for their hard work and contribution. Not forgetting our generous sponsors for continuing to support BEG throughout the years. Without everyone’s encouragement and cooperation, we would not have been able to accomplish this.

I look forward to seeing new and familiar faces at BEG this year! Don’t forget, registration opens 26^th February 2012. Train well and good luck all!
