As some of you may know, winter games event will be held on 17th December 2011 (day after first semester ends). BruNotts is sending one netball team to London to represent us in the sports event. Whether you’re part of the team or just wanting to come and support, we are planning to book a coach for transport to travel down to London. The cost for the journey has not been determined yet but it would not be more than £20 (cheaper for one way journey). In order for us to be able to hire the correct type of coach, we first need to know how many of you will be be joining us. Please take a few seconds of your time to vote on the poll below.

November has kicked in and I’m sure almost all of you are (hopefully not) drowning in assignments, presentations, essays, reports and the dreaded DEADLINES! Not to worry though, the light at the end of the tunnel is not that far. December holidays are now a month + two days away. For some of you, it will be the long-awaited time for some traveling and exploring here and there or you might meet up with your friends in other parts of the UK. For some others, you’ll be stuck in Nottingham and for the rest, you’ll be heading back to our beloved home, Brunei. No matter where you are, BruNotts will be there; whether it be for help with revision, help with boredom, or if you simply need a friend to jalan to Amazing Thai.

Before you start thinking of the cold(er) weather next month, here are some of our lovely, fun, and not-to-be-missed events to relieve you from all your stress this month!

BruNotts Freshers’ Play & Talent Show

Sunday, November 20th, 2pm to 5pm
Atrium, Portland Building

The Freshers’ Play has been an annual event within the BruNotts Society for as long as we can remember! This year, we made a slight change and decided to combine it with a talent show – all the more entertainment & talent to showcase and brighten your dull weekend this week! I for one certainly cannot wait to see what the enthusiastic freshers this year have to offer. And of course, how can we forget about other BruNotts members’ various talents? Our Mumma Nurun will be performing, as well as other members of our exco. Now.. can you really say with a serious face that you don’t want to see this? There will also be lucky draws in between performances, yummy yummy food AND a main lucky draw prize to be won. Last year, our sports sec won a lomo camera. Curious as to what it is this year? Guess you’ll have to come!

BruNotts Ice Skating + Dinner

It’s the time of the year again when we meet other Bruneian socities in the UK and enjoy ice skating – whether it be your first time, second time, or you’re a secret ice skating professional. This year, we are combining with LufBru, BruWick and BruLeics. Release your tension and wear warm clothing! After that, we’ll head to Red Hot World Buffet for dinner. Don’t worry, it’s halal! Secret Bruneian

What can be more fun than giving and receiving presents? Imagine the warmth of 61BR, being surrounded by your BruNotts family, eating warm Malay food. What can go wrong? So participate in this game! Rather than celebrating christmas, this game is simply another event to bring everyone closer together while we shiver during winter! It’s the start of a new semester and it will be another great year for BruNotts! For new members, we welcome you to Nottingham with open arms and we hope you are settling well. ICE BREAKING

We had a chance to meet with the freshers during the freshers fayre and we want to know more about you! Or perhaps you want to get to know your peers better. This is what the Ice breaking is for! Do come! There will be lots of entertaining games and delicious food will be served in between (yum yum).

A tour around Nottingham. The sites will be visited are Nottingham Castle, Robinhood Centre, Sherwood forest, Notts county FC, Nottingham Forest FC, Nottinghamshire County cricket stadium, BBC Nottingham, Wollaton Hall, Alverson Castle and more!

Goose Fair is one of Europe’s largest travelling fairs with a history that dates back more than 700 years. Amongst the array of Roller Coasters, Water Rides, Giant Wheels, Bombers, Dodgems, Twists, Waltzers and Miamis familiar to Goose Fair there will be a number of new attractions that have not visited Nottingham before.

These events are made just for you and we will do our best to make sure you have a terrific time here in Nottingham and at the same time ensure you are successful in your studies, InsyaAllah. That is all from us for now. =)

“RAISING FOR CHARITY DAY”

Raising funds for Pusat Ehsan, our local charity.

Date: 30th of July 2011, Saturday

Venue: The Mall, Gadong (1st floor)

“Pusat Ehsan is a non-government and non-profit organization committed to provide quality education and rehabilitation services for physically and intellectually challenged individuals.”

Our very own Brunotts exco, with the help of Pusat Ehsan representative will be organizing fun games and activities for people of all ages. We will also be selling items and merchandises to raise fund for the charity. This way, not only we can make the public aware of the honourable purpose of Pusat Ehsan in providing for the special needs of ‘the Special Community’ in Brunei, they can also contribute to it by participating in the fun games such as football juggling competition, icing cupcake competition, colouring competition for the children and much much more! Other than that, we can also promote Brunotts to members of the public and giving out brochures so they can find out more about us and University of Nottingham!

So please do come and support our fellow Brunotts Excos on the day! It is a very charitable cause and insya-Allah it will be an enjoyable day! We look forward to see you there!

On 7 May 2011 The University of Nottingham is holding May Fest, the University’s open day for the community, alumni and friends. With free, fun and interactive activities taking place across our campus, there’s something for everyone, whatever your age!

BruNotts will be participating in this event as well so please drop by our stall and give your support or even help out!

Of course, there will be many other stalls and fun activities for you to check out on that day!

This year BruNotts Easter Games are bringing something new to you! This coming 2^nd April, HRD counseling service will be having a free drop in counseling session on BEG day itself!! And guess what? It will be the whole day!!

There will also be two seminars on procedures for applying Masters degree in UK and Australia.

HRD Services works with a group of prestigious universities in UK and Australia and can help you with all your university application processes for 2011 or 2012 entry. All the universities that we represent are accredited by the Brunei Darussalam National Accreditation Council.
